About Traitora
Traitora is a free, scientifically grounded adaptive personality test based on Item Response Theory (IRT). Our goal is to make the technology previously reserved for expensive clinical or academic tests available to everyone – free of charge, transparent, and respectful of your privacy.
The Idea Behind Traitora
There is no shortage of personality tests – from rigorous scientific instruments to colourful online quizzes. The problem: the genuinely good tests are either expensive, excessively long and draining, or hard to understand. The quick, free tests, on the other hand, often have little scientific value.
Traitora bridges that gap. By using Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) and IRT, we can generate a precise personality profile in just 15–25 questions – instead of the usual 60–240. That saves time without sacrificing accuracy. In fact, adaptive testing is in many cases even more precise than classic formats.

The Story Behind Traitora
How Does the Test Work Technically?
The Traitora algorithm runs entirely in your browser (client-side). This means:
- Your answers never leave your device
- There is no server storing your data
- The test works even without an internet connection (after the first load)
- The code is written in pure JavaScript – no frameworks or tracking libraries
At its core is the Adaptive Engine, which after every answer calculates the Fisher Information of all remaining questions and selects the most informative next question. At the same time, your trait profile is updated via Maximum-A-Posteriori estimation.

What Makes Traitora Different?
Most online personality tests share a fundamental problem: they ask everyone the same questions in the same order. For a highly extroverted person, ten questions about introversion are barely informative – and vice versa. Traitora solves this with adaptive testing: every question is selected based on your previous answers.
Beyond that, Traitora doesn't just output a single value per trait – it also shows a measurement accuracy. That is an honest approach: if your answers were inconsistent on a given trait, that will be reflected in a lower accuracy score, rather than creating a false impression of precision.
